Business structure review and advice
Many businesses still run through the structure they started with. A structure that suited a sole trader turning over $150,000 may now leave the family home exposed to business debts, cost more tax than it should, or make it hard to bring in a partner or sell.
What we do
We review your current structure against six things: tax, asset protection, borrowing, bringing in partners or staff, succession and sale, and running costs. We model your tax under each option, from sole trader and partnership to company, family trust, unit trust or a combination. We also explain the cost of changing, including stamp duty, capital gains tax, and any small business concessions available to you.
What you receive
- A written recommendation with a side-by-side tax comparison
- The one-off costs of changing and the steps involved
- Coordination with your solicitor, who prepares the legal documents
Questions
When should I review my structure?
When profit rises sharply, when you bring in a partner, buy property, plan to sell, or when your family circumstances change.
